As a seasoned explorer and digital nomad living in Tenerife for three years now, I've had the privilege of exploring the island's many treasures, both well-known and hidden. Today, I'm excited to reveal one of Tenerife's best-kept secrets – one of the nicest beaches in Tenerife - Playa de Los Morteros, a pristine paradise with crystal-clear waters that will leave you mesmerized.
Join me on a journey to this hidden gem, accessible via a scenic route that starts from a bustling parking area in La Caleta. Parking is generally bad in Spain and Tenerife, but this excursion provides pain free huge parking (at last!).

The nearby port allows you to go whale and dolphin watching for as little as 20 euros per person. I absolutely love whales, seeing them is almost spiritual to me. Best time is Nov to Feb!

There is very little light pollution here and a very high 3705m volcano to look at the stars from. It is a beautiful experience that will amaze and enlighten you. The guide is very knowledgeable.

Finding Your Way to the nicest beach in Tenerife: Playa de Los Morteros
Our adventure to the nicest beach in Tenerife begins at a large parking area in La Caleta, again, one of the few places in Tenerife where parking is a doodle. From here, follow the charming path down to the beach.
Follow the beach North, passing by delightful fish eateries that tempt you with their fresh catches of the day. As you walk, stop for a coffee and take in the lively atmosphere of La Caleta, a charming coastal village with a laid-back vibe. I call it mini Los Cristianos as it has a similar vibe but smaller.

Seeing the crater of the volcano is unmissable too. It is Spain's highest mountain at 3715 metres. The crater is 6 kilometres in diameter. It looks like Mars, you must check it out with one of my favorite guides Massimo.

The submarine experience is great for people who don't like to get wet? I joke but my wife is afraid of open water so this was a great way for her to see what I see when I go snorkelling. Everyone enjoys this one!

Please note that this route is not suitable for pushchairs or toddlers, so plan accordingly.

While the beach itself is a tiny patch of wet sand, you'll find flat volcanic rocks perfect for sunbathing. Some of them even act as lounge shaped if you look carefully.
If you're feeling adventurous, consider bringing a folding chair and a fishing rod to enhance your experience. Just keep in mind that you'll need to carry them over the cliff, so pack wisely. I haven't researched fishing yet, make sure you have adequate licenses.
